OK, So hopefully you took some time to really think and came up with a compelling topic for a lead magnet that will help your prospects take the first steps towards solving a problem they struggle with. Now you have a report to give away … but how exactly do you do that?
You need a compelling signup page that offers your report in exchange for the prospect giving you their email address. These are sometimes called landing pages or lead capture pages or squeeze pages.
Luckily, we are not still in 1998, when creating a webpage required a degree in computer science!
Now we have easier ways.
The best thing about a good lead capture page is that it is simple. You don’t want a lot of different messages or content to distract the viewer from the ONE THING you want them to do … subscribe to your list. Usually there are no other links or offers on the page.
You do need an attention getting headline and picture. Since we all have the attention spans of goldfish these days, you have to show them something that will get them to pay attention to your offer. Not flashing graphics or big bold letters. That is seen as unprofessional and not how you want to start a relationship with someone who could become your best customer.
Usually an attractive background picture that will catch their eye and a headline that promises to help solve their problems. If you have named your free report well, then the name of the report could be the headline. From our earlier example … “5 Ways to Double Your Traffic in 30 Days”.
